GWERU – Four schools will represent Midlands Province at the national quiz competitions in Harare next month.
The four are provincial winners Selukwe Chrome High best secondary school, Jairos Jiri Narran best secondary school, Budiriro and Jairos Jiri were best primary schools.
Midlands Provincial Education Director (PED) Jameson Machimbira confirmed the winners.
He applauded the Government and National Aids Council (NAC) for supporting the quiz.
“The main objective of the competition was to assess the level of comprehensive life skills, sexuality, HIV and AIDS education amongst learners.
“We have four schools that managed to proceed to the national quiz finals in Harare next month,” he said.
The provincial competitions took place at Chaplin High last week in two phases. The first was the practical assessment contributing 90% of the total mark. The second phase was theory contributing 10%.
A Form 3 Jairos Jiri Narran learner Martha Zhou said that she leant a lot in the quiz competitions and appreciates the support given to people with disabilities.
“As deaf learners, we need to be heard and we are happy to have qualified to represent the province at the national finals,” she said.
