CHIPINGE – Chipinge Town Council is offering ratepayers 30% discount for payments made in foreign currency.
This was confirmed to Chipinge Times by the local authority’s chairperson Zivanai Nyakuchena.
The development follows a resolution by the local authority to open a nostrol account.
Nyakuchena said the foreign currency accounts will include estate account for the sale of stands, WASH services and rates account for the payment of all other fees.
“On the estate account, these are projects that are capital in nature and the account will also cater for capital assets of the local authority and operational fuel since service stations are now selling fuel in foreign currency,” he said.
