280 exhibit at Chikomba Agricultural Show
CHIKOMBA- At least 280 farmers exhibited at the just-ended Chikomba Agricultural Show.
The show was held at Nharira Business Center, and farmers showcased their farm produce. Others showcased their talent through modelling, singing and reciting poems.
Chikomba Rural District Council (RDC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bullen Chiwara was the Guest of Honour.
Mashonaland East Provincial Director for Agriculture and Rural Development Services Leonard Munamati also attended the show.
Several agro dealers such as Grasslands Agro dealers, Hand in Hand Zimbabwe, National tested seeds, Seedco, Whiney Paprika, and Farmers Choice showcased.
Gogo Joyce Mudzamiri from Ward 5 was adjudged the best farmer, and she received a plough.
Other farmers who won in different categories walked away with ploughs, knapsacks, fertilizers, pots, dishes and t-shirts.
Chiwara told farmers to take agriculture as a business that would help the nation to become an upper mid-class economy.
“I urge farmers to take agriculture as a business and upscale their produce so that our nation will return its name of being the bread basket. We will start exporting Agricultural produce. As Chikomba RDC we are also making efforts to make sure that our farmers get access to markets in the District so that they have decent selling places,” he said.
Munamati urged farmers to prepare for the next season and start Pfumvunza programs.
