GWANDA – Municipality of Gwanda Town Clerk, Priscillar Nkala commissioned two buses purchased by two council run schools last Saturday.
The buses for Jahunda and St Christophers primary schools were acquired through parents’ contributions.
Nkala said the efforts of parents should be appreciated. She said there should be a cordial working relationship between parents, pupils, school administration and the responsible authority for the schools to thrive.
“The togetherness between the Schools Development committees (SDC) and the parents made it possible to acquire these buses that hold tremendous significance in the lives of the students and entire education system.
“These buses are a symbol of opportunity, accessibility and progress. The provision of school buses demonstrates our collective commitment to ensure that learners get opportunities to synergize with other educational institutions regardless of their geographical location,” she said.
Jahunda school head Silas Moyo applauded parents and said students will be motivated to work harder.
“We want to thank the parents and students who pass to motivate their parents to pay school fees, if we keep on working together we will see significant development at our school,” said Moyo.
St Christopher’s head, Temuso Dube urged parents to religiously pay fees and levies to ensure development at the school.
“I want to encourage parents who did not clear their bus levy to do so for us to develop the school. We have a lot to focus on other than transport so let us keep on working together,” said Dube.
