2 Chiredzi Govt High school students to represent Zim in Nigeria

CHIREDZI – Two students from Chiredzi Government High School are among the finalists selected to represent Zimbabwe for 2024 second edition of High School Debate Challenge (HiDC) Public Speaking competitions to be held in Lagos, Nigeria from 11 to 15 December, 2024.
The two students are Hailey Mudawarima who is an Upper Six Commercials student and Takudzwa Manyere who is a Lower 6 Sciences student.
Chiredzi government high school headmaster, Victor Zvada confirmed the trip to The Mirror and said inclusion of decision making in students is paying dividends.
“I am elated as the Head of the school . Its no mean achievement for us as a school.Chiredzi Government High School is undergoing a serious upward educational trajectory. Our open door policy , student participation in their own learning and an emphasis on the inclusion of students in decision making is paying dividends to the school ,”said Zvada
Schools Teacher in charge, Enerst Makumbira who will accompany the students to Nigeria told The Mirror that the 2 qualified after they participated in the National competitions held in Harare at Northwest Academy from 9-12 August this year. “Hailey made it in the 10 finalist and by merit of Hailey , Takudzwa though he was beaten in the semi finals automatically qualified for the Public speaking competitions to be held in Nigeria.”said Makumbira.He also said that the two students will be accompanied by their two teachers.
“Since the two students are male and female, a female teacher who is Rejoice Dziva and myself will accompany them ,”said Makumbira.
The competitions will be held at Dansol High School in Lagos Nigeria under the theme speaking against all odds as African children.
