2 Chipinge brothers arrested for selling giraffe meat

CHIREDZI – Magistrate Diana Masiiwa has remanded two Chipinge brothers who are charged with killing a giraffe and selling its meat in custody.
Luck Jamu (33) and Allan Jamu (21) of Mutorwa Village under Chief Musikavanhu in Chibuwe, Chipinge will be back in court on June 11, 2024.
They are charged with killing a giraffe and unlawful possession of giraffe meat in contravention of Section 59 A and B chapter 20.14 of the Parks and Wildlife Management Act.
The brothers allegedly killed the giraffe in Humany Ranch. Allan was also seen selling giraffe meat at Chiororo Beerhall, Chiredzi.
Circumstances are that Gift Mutetwa, a game ranger on night patrol discovered the carcass of a giraffe in Humany Ranch on 25 May. He traced footsteps from the carcass and they led him to the brothers’ homestead.
He found giraffe meat and legs in a kitchen at the homestead leading to the brothers’ arrest.
