197 in Masvingo quarantine centres

  • 14 Malawians deported


Masvingo – A total of 197 returnees are under quarantine at three centres in Masvingo province with 14 Malawians who were intercepted at roadblocks deported, Provincial Covid-19 taskforce spokesperson, Rodgers Irimayi has said.

The biggest quarantine centre is at Mushagashe Vocational Training Centre which has 133 returnees and its holding capacity of 144.

Out of its holding capacity which is 40 Bikita Training Centre is overwhelmed with 44 inmates.

Rupangwana quarantine centre in Chiredzi with a capacity of 26 inmates is currently holding 22.

Irimayi also said that 14 Malawians, 12 intercepted at Nyanda Police roadblock and two at Gokomere Police roadblock some three weeks ago were deported back to Malawi last week.

He said that the inmates were deported last week by the Immigration Department after Covid-19 tests were done. Irimayi however, said the results for the deportees are yet to come back.https://masvingomirror.com
