CHIVHU – The construction of the $192m Chivhu Dam by the Government in Chikomba district is now 39 percent complete, an official has said.
The dam is located along Zivagwe River and it is expected to become one of the water sources for Chivhu while also providing for irrigation. It is going to have a capacity of 26 million cubic metres.
Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) corporate communications and marketing manager Marjorie Munyonga confirmed the progress made on the dam and added that the water reservoir should be completed by the end of this year
“Construction work is well underway at the dam and we are now at 39% although Covid regulations affected the pace of doing work,” said Munyonga.
Progress is also being made on the construction of Gwayi- Shangani Dam which is set to become the country’s third largest inland dam after Tugwi-Mukosi Dam and Lake Mutirikwi. https://masvingomirror.com
