18 writers meet on social media to author a scintillating poetry book

MASVINGO – A writhe of 18 writers that met on WhatsApp late last year have published a collection of 120 Shona poems titled Chainga Chenduri which encourages restoration of cultural values and practices.

Farai Chikara, a member of the group told The Mirror that the writers met on social media late last year and collaborated to come up with the collection of Shona poems.

The writers are from different fields but with a passion and a flair for writing.

“We met last year in a WhatsApp group and we have published our first poetry book. The book aims at restoring our cultural values and practices which have been eroded by western values and cultures.

“I am a farmer based in Nyazvidzi, Gutu and all the colleagues come from different lines of work,” said Chikara.
The book was published by Essential Publishing Company in Norton and it costs US$5.
