CHIREDZI – A Chiredzi man (18) has been slapped with 15 years’ jail for raping his 8-year-old niece on Valentines Day. The girl is his sister’s daughter.
Remind Chikaponya of 16 Edenvale, Mupuuriri Village, Headman Kupuka, Mwenezi appeared before Regional Magistrate Vimbai Mutukwa facing charges of rape.
The State said on February 14, 2024 at around 2pm the girl who stays with her grandparents came back from school and entered her room to take off her school uniform.
Chakaponya entered the room while the girl was taking off her uniform and made her to sleep on the bed.
He removed her skirt and pant and pulled out his organ over the waistline of his shorts and had sex with her without her consent.
After the quick encounter, the girl put back on her skirt and went outside and reported the matter to her grandmother.
The grandmother informed the girl’s father who advised her to report the matter. The matter was reported at Chikombedzi Police station leading to the arrest of Chikaponya.
