15 000 attend Lowveld Agric Show

CHIREDZI – This year’s Annual Lowveld Agricultural Show ended on a high note with 15 000 people attending the three-day event which ended on Saturday.
The show attracted 44 exhibitors, a slight rise of 5 from the 39 exhibitors in 2023.
Lowveld Show Society Chairman, Graham Murindagomo described the exhibition as a success.
“This is a very successful show. The number of exhibitors increased and we also had eight new participants,” said Murindagomo
The Show ran under the theme; mitigating the impact of Elnino induced drought through innovation.
New exhibitors include GEC Zimbabwe, an Engineering company which scooped a Gold for being the best in the Engineering companies category.
The Minister of State for Masvingo, Ezra Chadzamira who was the Guest of honour and was represented by Infrastructure, Planning and Environment Management Director in his office, Clorence Matewe.
“This exhibition is important to the district and the province as well. The theme resonates with Government thrust that prioritises climate change as a fundamental aspect to sustainable economic growth as envisaged in the National Development Strategy (NDS1) Blueprint,” said Chadzamira.
He also commented bussiness entities for taking advantage of the agriculture show to come and exhibit their businesses.
“Traditionally agricultural shows were mainly focused on showcasing agricultural implements and activities and agricultural farm produces but this year is a year of agricultural activities, networking and business trade fair,” said Chadzamira.
Clevers Hotels and Resorts Guest Relations Manager, Caroline Sanjama whose organisation scooped gold in the Hospitality and Resorts category said the exhibition gave them a platform to interact with other businesses and to use the feedback to improve their brand.
GEC Engineering which scooped gold in the engineering category was thrilled to win in its first year at the show.
“I was happy with the exhibition platform here. This is our first time here and we are thrilled. We will come back next year even bigger and better,” said GEC Transmission and Distribution Manager, Musa Pfumo.
Cabs won gold in the Financial services category. Chiredzi Branch manager, Alex Mwabvu said 200 people opened accounts at the show.
Other categories were Parastatals, Safety and awareness, Education, Hospitals, Schools, Communication companies, Councils, Government departments, Uniformed forces, Driving schools, Seed houses, Funeral services, agro industry, media houses among others.
