ZVISHAVANE- As Zanu PF intensifies its rallies and gatherings countrywide, the deadly Covid19 passed mainly through close interactions of humans has seen active cases shooting to 14 in Zvishavane.
Zvishavane District Environmental Health Officer Shoko Mubatsiri confirmed the cases and he suspected that the surge was due to travelling.
He said that there were seven cases only last Friday and these have jumped 100% inside a week.
He said five of the new cases were from a family that had travelled for a funeral in Kwekwe.
“There are 14 active cases in Zvishavane and one death. Most of the cases are as a result of people travelling as evidenced by the fact that five of those are members of one family that travelled to Kwekwe for a funeral. Zvishavane urban has the most number of cases with Isiah Park, Highlands, Birthday and Nil Townships being the hot spots of the pandemic.
“Maketo leads the hot spots in Rural Zvishavane. My advice to people is that they should not make unnecessary visits to relatives”, he said.
