MASVINGO – Some 102 farmers exhibited at the Bikita Agricultural Show held at Murwira Primary School recently.
The farmers are set to benefit two months old chicks in the forthcoming Presidential Poultry Program, Bikita Ward 22 Agricultural Extension Officer Tafara Mhoka told the farmers.
The show ran under the theme; Promoting Agriculture Through Competition and there were 505 exhibits that included finger millet, rapoko, maize, pumpkins, sugar beans, vegetables and peanut butter.
“Farmers are benefitting from the Presidential Inputs Scheme and they will get two months old chicks in the presidential poultry program. Despite the fact that there was low rainfall and that awareness meetings were restricted due to COVID-19, the farmers did very well and we are proud of them,” said Mhoka.
Farmers Choice Agro Dealer Tapiwa Magombedze also gave the farmers a lecture on poultry and pfumvudza presidential inputs scheme management.
Viola Mazvimba a farmer from Manyengava Village in Ward 22 was crowned overall winner after showcasing more yields and she won 10 kg maize seed from Easy Seeds
“I am happy to have been crowned the overall winner of this show. I worked hard in the fields and I am grateful for the seed I received,” said Mazvimba.https://masvingomirror.com
