GWANDA – Matabeleland South 2024 World Theatre Day Celebrations will be held in Gwanda on March 22, 2024.
The event is being organized by Talent Innovative Mentorship Exercise (TIME) in partnership with National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NAC) running the theme ‘take a child to the Theatre today’.
Founding executive director of TIME, Adrian Musa confirmed the event to Two Nations and said this is to embrace creative entrepreneurs within the creative industry in Matabeleland South.
“This event is organized to provide a platform for performances, exposure and Markets for creative entrepreneurs in the province and beyond. We have seen that it is imperative to join the rest of the world in celebrating children and young people’s creative content in honour of World Theatre Day,” said Musa.
He emphasized that schools will be attending this event from across the province.
“We are expecting over 10 primary and secondary schools from Matabeleland South to come and participate through various performances that range from Theatre, music, poetry and Marimba playing. The community is definitely up for a high tempo exhibition show,” he said.
Gwanda town clerk Priscilla Nkala said this is an opportunity to boost business in the town.
“These events benefit businesspeople, vendors, designers and art workers from the district, we appreciate that the young ones are being recognized, encouraged and hope this will end the use of drugs,” said Nkala.
